Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art centred on control, leverage and technique rather than striking. Training takes place both standing and on the ground, teaching students how to control positions, escape, transition and submit an opponent through practical grappling.
Students develop a complete range of grappling skills, including takedowns and throws, guard work, positional control, escapes, transitions, pins and submissions. As you progress, you also learn how to connect techniques together, react to resistance, make decisions under pressure and apply your skills during positional training and live grappling.
No previous martial arts experience or specific fitness level is required. Beginners learn the fundamentals progressively, while experienced practitioners continue developing more advanced techniques, combinations and strategies.

Our Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programme is open to complete beginners and experienced grapplers, with a weekly schedule that includes both Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as an Open Mat. Classes run Monday 8:00–9:00 pm, Tuesday 6:45–8:00 pm, Thursday 7:00–8:15 pm, Friday 6:00–7:00 pm and Saturday 9:30–10:45 am.

Our Teenager Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class provides structured technical grappling for teenagers, helping members build skill, fitness, confidence and resilience while training with others in their own age group. Classes run Monday and Friday from 5:00–6:00 pm. The first class is free, and Teen BJJ membership also includes full access to our Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Adult Judo classes. This gives teenagers access to up to 28 BJJ classes plus 8 Judo classes over each 4-week membership period.

Our Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes give children the opportunity to develop their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills in a structured, supportive environment while building confidence, coordination and resilience through regular training. Classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00–6:00 pm.

Little Ninjas is our introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for younger children, with classes designed around age-appropriate movement, basic grappling skills and learning how to train confidently with others. Classes take place on Wednesdays from 5:00–5:45 pm and Fridays from 4:00–4:45 pm.

I'm so glad I reached out to Dean to start in his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class. I had zero experience but was made feel welcome from the very first moment. Dean is a top notch coach who promotes a disciplined and hard-work ethic but also has time for good banter with all the lads. I would strongly encourage anyone who may be interested to reach out and get started 👍.

If you are in the Rush area and you want to improve or just learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu then this is the place to be. Highest quality of training, health and well-being service around 👌. I always feel elevated after it. If health and longevity is your goal then my friends you have arrived at the right place.

I was the first girl to join and all the lads immediately treated me like one of the group, I never felt like I was any lesser or treated any differently by anyone else. If you join the Lifestyle Monks you are not just joining a BJJ club, you are joining a family. Dean is a highly qualified great instructor, every single class made my day better at the end and we always had a laugh together. I am super grateful I had the chance to meet these lovely lads and I am so thankful for all that Jiu Jitsu taught me as a person. I’d recommend to anyone to join because BJJ really makes you grow, it really makes you better, stronger and humbler. I’ll keep this Dojo at heart.

Dean is an unbelievable coach, he is willing to spend time and effort with you until you understand whatever technique you are struggling with. His knowledge of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is very impressive. There is a good brotherhood in the Jiu Jitsu class, everyone is welcoming and want to help newcomers get better.
